|  | Our orphan and widow care program is based on our belief that new approaches are needed to empower Zambian families to provide better care for larger numbers of orphaned children. For instance, traditional methods of providing orphan care (i.e. operating orphanages) are cost-prohibitive and not culturally appropriate for the Zambian nation. Thus, the Zambia Project seeks to involve widows in the care of orphans, creating a synergy between orphan and widow care. The Zambia Project also seeks to reduce the number of “street kids” and reduce the number of juveniles being sentenced to adult prisons.
